Alberta is a major transportation hub and thoroughfare for many transport trucks going from the port of Vancouver Eastbound. ColdFront and its predecessor, Eskimo Refrigeration, have been proud to serve this vibrant province for over forty years. Diverse geography and a climate that sees temperature swings seasonally from -35 Celsius to +30 Celsius present many unique challenges for refrigerated transportation and heavy equipment. The ColdFront team meets these challenges head-on to keep the supply chain moving through our numerous sales and service locations.
Kate Landry is the General Manager of the Calgary location, which services all of Southern Alberta and halfway up the province in the North-South Corridor between Calgary and Edmonton. The Calgary location has four mobile repair vehicles to service the surrounding area. Two satellite ColdFront locations are in Lethbridge and in Brooks. Lethbridge has two mobile repair vehicles and a one bay shop. Brooks also has two mobile units and a one bay shop.
Parts to your door
Supplying parts is a large portion of our business and our delivery drivers will drop off orders directly to our customers. We stock a huge inventory of Carrier, Webasto, and Pro-heat products and can ship directly to remote locations if need be.
Emergency Service
24/7 emergency roadside refrigeration service is part of ColdFront's commitment to keeping the food chain stable throughout the province. There are not many locations in North America that have the temperature swings found in Southern Alberta, and it takes very specialized technicians to be able to work effectively in these fast-changing conditions.
Many of our Southern Alberta Refrigeration repair staff have been in the business for decades and their experience is why so many customers rely on our expertise. Wayne Keenan has been in the industry for 33 years and Joe Glym Williams is a veteran of 39 years!
Kate Landry recently joked saying, "During the winter months it's hard to get away from work as I'm reminded by the radio weather forecasters that are always talking about a fast moving 'Cold Front' headed our way".
Hane Wuthrich is the General Manager for the Edmonton Branch which services the entire North and extends right out to the Saskatchewan border. No other ColdFront location services such remote areas as the Edmonton Branch. ColdFront Service technicians routinely make their way to Slave Lake to service a key forestry customer.
Like the Calgary location, ColdFront Edmonton benefits from employing some of the top service technicians in all of Alberta. Many of the technicians that work out of the Edmonton locations have between 20 to 40 years of service experience.
Unlike in Southern Alberta where much of the ColdFront Sales and Service work revolves around Refrigeration, Edmonton ColdFront has a huge focus around heating products that keep heavy equipment starting and their operators able to work in a heated cab that is essential for the harsh northern environment.
Operating in a cold climate
Webasto heaters and Carrier APUs are a big part of ColdFront's northern business. Hane Wuthrich explained that throughout ColdFront's history, his team has developed a reputation over the years of being able to provide heating solutions for any piece of equipment that worked in the North from specialized oilfield equipment to road building and construction equipment. Much of the heavy equipment produced for the global construction, mining, and oilfield industries is engineered for mild climates and can't even be started in the cold northern Alberta climate without the installation of a proper engine heating system. Hane says, "ColdFront is the first phone call for many companies when a new piece of equipment arrives on site. Our customers need to make sure that any new equipment is retrofitted with a proper heating system, and they trust ColdFront to get it right!"
Social Responsibility
In between keeping heavy equipment and refrigeration units running throughout Northern Alberta, ColdFront's management team makes time to work with local charities and organizations to give back to the community. Recently ColdFront lent the Edmonton Foodbank a reefer trailer to store their food while a refrigeration unit of the Foodbank was needing repair.
No matter where you are in the province of Alberta, a ColdFront representative or technician is just a phone call away. We'd love to get to know you and look for ways that we can leverage our experience and knowledge to help your business run more efficiently and profitably by having the right heating and cooling solutions. Reach out to any of our locations and let's start having a conversation.
